Internet Applications

Within the last few years the accessibility of online applications has grown a lot. Traditionally, you had to install a program from a CD, or download it from the Internet in order to use it. However, currently there are many web applications that do not require any downloads at all. All of this is possible because of the Internet.

The number of online applications is growing steadily, and analysts predict that this trend is going to continue. Probably the biggest advantage of these applications is that you do not need a high-end computer to run them. Actually, there are computers and notebooks being sold for only a few hundred dollars that can run them without problems. Such computers use very little power so they are very economical as well. Overall, this is a great solution for those who want to save some money. It is also a good idea for those who want to use a specific program only once or twice, as this way they will not have to purchase the whole software.

I believe that in the future the Internet applications will be used by a lot more computer users. That is because the Internet is becoming more reliable and more and more accessible. For Internet applications to work properly a reliable Internet connection is definitely a requirement. Older dial-up connections may be too slow for some of the newer programs.

When to Write Blog Posts?

When do you write your blog posts? There is an interesting way to write posts for your blog. I am not going to discuss the style of writing, or even the length of posts, but rather how to plan writing your posts during the week. Usually bloggers write a post on their blog whenever they realize that they should post something, or whenever they see that they do not have enough posts this week or month.

This can be quite difficult as often you have to write posts every day of the week, and since it takes some time to get started, a lot of time is wasted or not used very effectively. So anyway, the new idea for writing posts is as follows:
-You write all of your weekly posts on a chosen day of the week. The previous day you choose the topics for your posts. That is because choosing the topic for posts is very important, and you should have sufficient time for this.

There are a few reasons why I like the idea of writing posts this way. First of all, you are not in a hurry to select topics for posts and consequently you will probably choose more interesting topics. Secondly, you have other days of the week to work on different things that will give you time for other work related to your blog like marketing etc. Finally, writing a few posts in a row seems easier instead of writing them separately. That is because this way you are only focused on writing, and I believe that makes your work more efficient.

Craigslist

Have you ever wondered why Craigslist achieved such a success? The site is the seventh most viewed site on the Internet. Not bad, is it not? Even though the website is originally based in San Francisco, it operates worldwide. The idea behind the website is very simple. People like to buy and sell used things, and Craigslist allows them to sell items in a very convenient way. There are thousands upon thousands of classified ads on their site, no wonder that the site has so many visitors. People will always need to be buying and selling various items, and this is why sites like this will always stay popular. These days Craigslist is so popular that almost everyone knows what it is. I remember seeing Craig the founder of Craigslist on TV some time ago. While he seems like an intelligent person, he is also in many ways an ordinary guy, which proves that anyone can achieve success on the Web. Of course, not every online entrepreneur will achieve success, but it is definitely worth trying. Do you have any ideas for an innovative website? Who knows, maybe your website will become one of the most popular sites on the Internet?

Google Trends for Websites

Websites are a crucial element of the World Wide Web, and no wonder that webmasters like to look at trends and statistics associated with them. In order to compare different websites with each other, you may want to visit Google Trends, as you will be able to analyze some pretty interesting information. First of all, you will be able to see the search volume of keywords. You will have access to data displaying daily unique visitors for many sites. This way you can compare two different websites and see which one is more popular. While I encourage you to use this tool, it does not have as much data as other visitor tracking tools such as Alexa. That is why you should not only depend on Google Trends for traffic estimates.

Gesture Controlled Robots

Some time ago a Tokyo University engineer has developed a very original way to control robots by using simple gestures. This robot is supposed to have cameras that would detect body movements and later translate these actions into movements. Such discovery would allow a user to control something like the direction of a robot by pointing which way they would like it to go. What I find appealing with this way of controlling a robot is that gesture movements are a perfectly natural thing to do for a human being, contrary to using a keyboard or other input devices. We see more and more inventions being made that are making the communication gap between humans and robots smaller and smaller. What do you think about it?

Computer Accessories for You

After you buy a PC that suits your needs, it is time to think what computer accessories you might need. Here is a list of a few things you may be interested in:

-Surge protector. I have never had any of my computers run without a reliable surge protector. If a PC is left unprotected, it can get easily damaged if there is a thunderstorm. A surge protector will be especially helpful if you live in a place where storms occur, because storms and lightning can seriously damage a computer. You will have to spend a lot of money repairing your PC if you do not invest in a high quality surge protector.
-Printer. A printer will be very useful to your children, especially if they need to prepare a lot of papers for their classes. Before you buy a printer, remember to check the prices of its cartridges. If you buy a printer that requires expensive cartridges, you might end up spending a lot more than you initially planned.
-Digital camera will be a nice addition as well. While not everyone would categorize it as a computer accessory, since you need to connect it to a computer to download pictures, you can treat it as such.
